Hunch

How-To Guide

First signals in under 10 minutes.

Seven steps from first login to your first signal alert - with everything you need to know to get full value out of Hunch from day one.

~15 minutes total setup time
01
Step 12 min

Create your workspace

Sign up and name your workspace - typically your company name. Invite your teammates from the Team tab. Everyone on your team shares the same account list, signal feed, and Knowledge Base.

Unlimited teammates on all plans
Each member gets their own login and notification preferences
Setup takes under 2 minutes
02
Step 23 min

Build your Knowledge Base

Tell Hunch who you're targeting and what matters to your business. Navigate to Knowledge Base and describe your ideal customer in plain English - industry, company size, geography, and who you're not looking for.

Describe your ICP in plain English - no query language
Add exclusion rules to filter out accounts you won't sell to
Changes take effect on the next monitoring run
03
Step 32 min

Add your first accounts

Navigate to Accounts and click Add accounts. Import a CSV, paste a list of domains directly, or search for companies by name. Monitoring begins on the next run after import.

CSV import: domain + company name is all that's required
Paste up to 100 domains at once in the domain input
Search and add companies by name or domain
04
Step 45 min

Configure your signals

Go to Knowledge Base → Signals. Browse preset signal types or click Add custom signal and describe what you're looking for in one sentence. Hunch applies all signals to every account it monitors, daily.

Preset signal categories available on all plans
Custom signal definitions: describe any trigger in plain English
All signals run against every account - no per-account config
05
Step 51 min

Run your first search

Click Find Accounts. Describe the type of company you're looking for in plain English and Hunch runs a live search against its database. Save the search to run it automatically every day.

Describe searches in natural language - no filters to configure
Save searches to run daily; results appear in Suggested tab
Each result includes company details and ICP match score
06
Step 62 min

Set up notifications

Go to Settings → Notifications. Connect Slack by authorizing the Hunch bot and selecting a channel. Enable the daily digest for a morning summary. Configure webhooks for CRM integrations.

Slack alerts fire the moment a signal is detected on any account
Daily digest at 8am summarizes all new signals from last 24 hours
Webhooks push payloads to Salesforce, HubSpot, or any endpoint
07
Step 7ongoing

Review your Suggested tab

Open Accounts → Suggested. This tab shows net-new accounts discovered through your saved searches - companies that match your ICP and are already showing signals. Promote to your active list or dismiss to refine future suggestions.

Updated daily with accounts that weren't in your list yesterday
Each suggestion includes the signal that triggered the recommendation
Promoting an account starts active monitoring immediately

Pro tips

Get more out of Hunch from day one.

Three practices that separate teams getting 10x results from teams just getting started.

Be specific in your ICP

The more precise your ICP description, the better Hunch's discovery. Include specific industries, name the personas you target, and - critically - describe who you're not looking for. Hunch performs best when it understands your exclusions as clearly as your inclusions.

Start with 3–5 signals

Don't configure 20 signals on day one. Start with your two or three highest-conviction triggers. Hiring signals and leadership changes are reliable starting points for most B2B teams. You can always add more once you've seen how the first batch performs.

Check Suggested tab daily

Hunch adds net-new accounts to your Suggested tab every 24 hours. A quick daily review means you never miss an account that just crossed a threshold.

FAQ

Setup questions, answered.

How long does it actually take to set up Hunch?

Most teams are fully configured in under 10 minutes. Writing your ICP takes 2–3 minutes. Importing accounts takes another 2–3 minutes. Configuring your first signals takes about 5 minutes. After that, Hunch runs on its own and you check in when you get an alert.

Do I need technical knowledge to configure signals?

No. Hunch accepts plain English descriptions. Just describe what a buying signal looks like in your own words - for example, "company is actively hiring more than 5 quota-carrying sales reps" - and Hunch handles the rest. No query languages, filters, or Boolean operators.

How do I import existing accounts from my CRM?

Export a CSV from your CRM that includes at minimum a domain or company name column, then drag it into Hunch's account import screen. Hunch normalizes the data, deduplicates against your existing list, and starts monitoring all new accounts immediately.

Can multiple teammates see the same accounts and signals?

Yes. All accounts, signals, and briefs are shared across your workspace. Your entire team sees the same account list and signal feed. Individual notification preferences (Slack channel, digest on/off) are configured per user.

What happens if Hunch surfaces an account I'm already tracking?

Hunch deduplicates automatically. If an account discovered by a saved search is already in your active account list, it won't appear in Suggested. You'll only see net-new accounts that aren't already being monitored.

Can I track signals that aren't in your preset list?

Yes - and this is Hunch's biggest differentiator. You can define any signal in plain English. If there's a public signal that an account is ready to buy, Hunch will find it. Most teams end up with a mix of preset and highly specific custom signals unique to their sales motion.
